The importance of bible study cannot be over emphasized. Let’s look at some admonitions given to us by the Holy Spirit through inspired writers.

1Pe 2:1-3 1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Here we have a word picture that is very vivid. Anyone who has witnessed a hungry baby can attest that there is a strong desire for milk. The inspired apostle Peter uses this to make a point on how we should also desire the Word of God. Another great lesson we can learn from this is what happens if you deny the food. As a baby can’t sustain life and grow without food neither can a Christian sustain and grow in their spiritual life without the Word of God. |

2Ti 2:15 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We cannot rightly divide the word of truth without study and exercise of the things we have studied.
Heb 5:13-14 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. |
|
2Jn 1:8-11 8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. 9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

John 12:48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him— the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
Lastly, if we look at what Jesus says about His Word judging us, we surely can see the importance of study. If we have a standard by which we will be judged by it is essential we understand It.
